Our Values

  • Demonstrated by

    • Hopefulness for everyone’s best. We don’t easily give up on others or let them go because Jesus is the God of hope and who doesn’t give up on His disciples. (Romans 15:13, 1 Corinthians 13:7, Psalm 42:5)

    • Patience. Compassion is a marathon, not a sprint. People don’t “get it” overnight. Because Jesus is amazingly patient with His disciples, we are called to patience with others. (Philippians 1:6, 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, 1 Timothy 1:16)

    • Generosity. Everything we have was given to us by Jesus, and we really don’t deserve it. Therefore, we open our hands when others have need rather than closing our fists. (1 Timothy 6:17-19, 1 Corinthians 13:3, 1 John 3:17)

    • Proclaiming the truth. Compassion isn’t the opposite of truth, but her companion. Jesus acted and spoke with compassion. Therefore, our compassion is at its best when accompanied by making the way of Jesus known to others (John 1:14, 1 Corinthians 13:2, 6, 1 John 3:18).

  • Demonstrated by

    • Intentionality. Jesus has intentionally planned all things. Therefore, we don’t act or live carelessly as a church or with one other. We do our best to intentionally follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 1:11, Ephesians 5:15-17, Galatians 5:16-26)

    • Pursuit. When we were lost, Jesus sought us and saved us. Therefore, as Jesus’ disciples we intentionally pursue Him, pursue fellow disciples, and pursue those who don’t know Him. (Luke 19:10, Hebrews 12:14, 1 Corinthians 9:22)

    • Humility. Jesus models for us that our purpose isn’t self-serving, building our own kingdom. We can do nothing except for God’s blessing. Every disciple has been made a disciple by grace alone. All of this keeps us humble. (Philippians 2:3-11, James 4:10, Micah 6:8)

    • Church Planting. Jesus loves his bride - the church. We do too. Therefore, by God’s grace, we purpose to see other congregations started and renewed through our efforts. (Ephesians 5:25, Matthew 16:18-19, Acts 14:22-23)

  • Demonstrated by

    • Encouragement. Jesus has sent us the Holy Spirit as a helper and comforter. God promises to be with us in hardships. Therefore we always try to encourage others around us. (John 14:15-27, Romans 12:10, Hebrews 10:23-25)

    • Eating and hospitality. Jesus often shared food with others, even sinners. Therefore, we share meals, time, and hospitality with both disciples and non-Christians. (Matthew 9:10-11, 1 Peter 4:9, Acts 2:42-47)

    • Worship. Jesus has given us His great commission to make disciples. Therefore we help other disciples worship Jesus every day, including gathering on Sundays. (Matthew 28:16-20, Colossians 3:16, Psalm 34:3)

    • Joy and Fun. Jesus promises us a future filled with joy, praise, and feasting. Therefore, because of the freedom He has given us, we have some fun along the way. (Proverbs 17:22, Colossians 3:17, Ecclesiastes 2:24)

  • Demonstrated by

    • Honesty. Jesus never lies. People get hurt when we lie. Therefore we walk in honesty as a church and with one another, even when it’s uncomfortable, even when we sin. (Titus 1:2, Colossians 3:9, Proverbs 12:22)

    • Confession and Forgiveness. Jesus has canceled out the sins of all who have faith in Him. Therefore we confess our sins to one another and forgive one another. It is better to bring things to light than keep them in darkness. (Ephesians 4:31-32, 1 John 1:5-10, James 5:16)

    • Accountability and Transparency. Jesus wasn’t a hypocrite, but we still wrestle with it. Hypocritical “churches” and “church people” have caused a lot of damage. Therefore we fight against this sin by personal accountability with one another and appropriate systems of transparency in our church. ( 1 Peter 2:1, 1 Peter 2:16, Proverbs 28:13)

    • Prayer. Jesus, although sinless, was dependent on the Father, so He often prayed. Therefore, knowing we still have sin and weakness, we often pray for ourselves and others about anything. (John 17, Philippians 4:6, Hebrews 4:16)
